About the work

My first ever oil landscape was an absolute disaster. So much so that I stripped the canvas from its stretcher bars in hopes that at least the frame of wood could be redeemed. I had driven out to the Santa Ynez Valley hoping for divine artistic inspiration with an, as of yet, untested medium (by me). The resulting failure gave me a much more valuable lesson than any success ever could, a curiosity and desire to attempt to tame the complexities of oil paint and the myriad mediums that carry it.

Below is an exploration and an ongoing journey.
